Bought this 2015 Forester XT Touring with 162k on it from an insurance auction. It's got a clear title and was there as a "Hail damage, runs & drives"
Came from Texas, I bought it sight unseen, online, with only pictures to judge its condition.
This is the 28th vehicle I've bought this way since 2017. I buy them because I enjoy cleaning them up and repairing them as a hobby. I drive them for a bit, sometimes longer, then usually sell them to make room for the next project.
This one arrived as advertised, has about 10 medium sized dings in the hood, a half a dozen on the roof and another few here and there. Otherwise the body is in pretty good shape based on its mileage and age.
What I couldn't see in the pictures...was the fact that 2-4 wet German Shepard's must've regularly been transported in it...seriously, I've vacuumed out 12-gallon shop vac full of hair and there is still more. The interior is filthy so it's getting a full detail, but everything works, from the A/C to the sunroof. What I also couldn't tell from the pictures was the mechanical condition...on first start to get it off the delivery truck, it was smoking like a fleet of mosquito foggers, and wouldn't stop. However it runs great, no warning lights on but no boost. After a quick inspection, there is oil leaking into the exhaust from the turbo.
So what are the plans? A used (new to me) turbo has already arrived, all the gaskets and hardware are here as well. Plus a bunch of maintenance items. I have also been removing and cleaning the interior...I'll post as my progess continues.
