Older Subarus had the plate on the strut tower. Newer ones (here's an SH like the OP's) have the sticker at the bottom of the passenger b-pillar......

That's not the paint code. My brand new Cascade Green Foz has that exact same code at the bottom of the driver's side VIN sticker......

You should have one of these in the exact same spot on the passenger side.....

BTW, that code on the bottom of the VIN tag is for Canadian certification purposes. It certifies that the vehicle complies with the Canadian Interference Causing Equipment Standard 002.
