Hey all, let me start by saying I am familiar with evap systems. About 6 weeks ago, I attempted ti put gas in my car and it splashed back at me. I couldn't put a single drop in. I drove home and still had a full filler neck of gas. Thinking I had a clog in the charcoal canister I took that off which had fuel in it, replaced it with a junkyard part, and was back to normal for a few fillups. Now, I am experiencing the same thing. One thing I do not ever do is top off the tanks, btw, so I did not force gas into the canister. This time, no gas or issues with the charcoal canister, and even with it disconnected, I couldn't put gas in my tank. I had to disconnect even more evap lines in the rear and eventually I heard the fuel go from filler neck into my empty tank. I blew air through all of my lines indiscriminately, all but one had no resistance. The one with resistance was the white port on the left hand side of the photo. If I remember correctly, when I blew air through the filler neck, air came up through that port.
Currently, with everything disconnected like in the photo, I can put in a out .5 gallons before the pump auto shut-off activates due to the filler neck filling. I give it about 10 seconds and then repeat this process until I am full.
My question is, what is still preventing the gas vapor from easily escaping the gas tank when I fuel up?
One other side note since I have done this filling up twice this way, I usually stop filling up right around where my car would be full, and my gas tank the last 2 times quickly goes from Full to 3/4 tank in like a 20 mile trip. Might be nothing, but I swear it's dropping fast and I'm not losing fuel anywhere I can see.
Thanks so much for reading my problem and any advice or things to try is appreciated. Next step I'm going to drill a hole in the tank and deal with the CEL.
