Hello, all. Long time, no post. I hope you guys can answer this question, and I hope the answer is "yes." haha Anyway...
The seals on my aftermarket ebay headlights are shot. They've been failing for a while. I've been paint correcting and detailing the Forester for the past few days and figured I might as well go ahead and address the headlight issue. One of the lights had at least a cup of water in it.
I have the headlights out and cracked open. My plan was to reseal them with some Gorilla clear silicone sealant. The problem is, I'm making zero progress on removing the gray butyl rubber from the housing. My question is; can I forego the hassle of removing the butyl rubber and just glob the silicone in there really good and reseal them? (I've tried the softening of the butyl rubber and "squeeze" method, and it obviously wasn't a permanent fix.)
If I have to remove the butyl rubber, is there a fast or at least easy way to remove it? Looking forward to some promising replies. I'm ready to put this project behind me, permanently!
