Vehicle Details:
2019 Subaru Forester Sport
Starting in 2023, I've received the notifications to perform the OTA software updates. I have tried two separate wi-fi sources. First, I've accessed my home wi-fi. The signal is strong. I've also set up a personal hotspot on my iPhone 15 Pro Max (AT&T provider) ... also with a strong signal. With each attempt, I get the following alert: Software download failed. Do you want to retry? In 2023, I finally gave in and took it to my local dealership. They charged nearly $400 for the update. I filed a formal complaint with SOA and received a credit. The current version on my car is: Rel_UK.23.16.70 The new update is: Red_UK.25.04.70. I have contacted Customer Support. The agent suggested that I need to subscribe to MyConnected Services through the MySubaru app. Any suggestions to resolve on my own without going to a dealership?

Warranty extension should still cover a software update if you word your complaint in a such a way you have a concern with the radio software. Saying you just want a radio software update may not fly with some dealers.

That being said, the last two versions of software update for the HK 3.1 don't include a whole lot of fixes, so up to you if you feel it's necessary...

AFAIK, The most recent update was pulled temporarily to address an issue.

Keep in mind, you won't gain any new features from these updates. If you are not having an issue with your radio, then you probably don't need to worry about keeping up to date.

The updates only address the infotainment software.

If you really must be up to date, you can download the software onto a USB stick and install it that way.

Personally, if your radio is working fine, I wouldn't worry about it.
