Rallysport Direct - not happy - Updated!

I searched their site a few weeks back and could not locate a Process West TMIC for my 2008 XT.
They showed 2004-2007 XT fit, but no 2008.
I decided to ask chat, they responded immediately with a link to an RS web page showing 2008 fitment, they said they only had one left.
I reviewed the page and purchased the item based on fitment.
The box arrived with a sticker that showed 2004-2007 fitment.
I again engaged chat who, after quite a bit of back and forth ended up guaranteeing fitment for my 2008.
Out of curiosity I tried to go back to page that chat provided and it's no longer there.
So I used their system to go back to my order, my purchased item links to the 2007-2004 item page.

After 4 hours of trying to fit it in my car I concluded that it simply would not fit.
I tried every possible combination and order of install, I pulled it out and tried it again at least 6 or 7 times.
In the end I took it to my shop and after another 4 hours pulling intercooler in and out about a dozen times and a lot of head scratching, we cut the Y pipe at both ends, removing approximately 3/4" from the firewall side and approx 1/4" from the turbo outlet.
With this done the IC was finally able to sit properly and have the connections line up correctly.

The splitter which was "guaranteed to fit" was approximately 1" too tall, not even close.
This was a challenging mod, luckily I am a fabricator and was able to invest another 5 hours in it and it now fits.
I had to cut off the bottom edge of the shroud, using a cut off wheel and care.
This also removes the rivets that hold the shroud together, so I had to fab brackets, tiny screws and tiny nyloks to hold it together after it was cut.
Then paint it.

Not happy about the shifting web pages.
Not happy about a "guaranteed" fit that I paid full retail for, then had to invest over 12 hours in.
To compound all of that, I can not leave a review on Rallysport, it seems the page shuffle conveniently prevents it.

I will likely think twice before I go with Rallysport as a vendor next time.
It felt like all that mattered was booking the sale, once out the door it probably won't come back.
Which it didn't, because lox

wow that really stinks..I definitely would not be a happy camper if i had to go through all of this trouble for a guaranteed to fit item. Hopefully RSD is able to read this and comp you something. I have purchased most of my parts from Aristocrat Autosport. I'm not sure if he is on here but he is on Nabisco and his support is spot on!

Dude... Ditch RSD. Next time call Jordan at Defined Performance. He's the man.

waiting on them to respond to you... ive had spotty luck with that company... i spent all types of money online with decent support, and no rewards or decent ways to draw me back in. RSD is turning into the rota of parts sourcing IMO

Some things crank walk..... other things grenade

Sounds a lot more like a problem with Process West, not rallysportdirect... although it sucks that you seem to be getting the run-around on the customer service end.

I've had nothing but good experiences with them, although I try and order mostly through my local tuner/supplier.

Mechanically speaking, there's absolutely no difference in intercooler fitment from 07 to 08 that I'm aware of. So whatever problems you have should be identical to everyone else... not sure what to think. As far as y-piping goes, even the Sti one doesn't quite match up on a Forester, seems like everyone needs a different length elbow to the turbo depending on their setup. And I'm not super surprised about the shroud not working - my experience is that no company other than Grimmspeed seems to have figured out Forester fitment.

my signature sucks.

They are pretty much a drop shipper and stock some parts.

I would look for a more specialized shop that actually works on and drives the car you own.

For my BRZ i use Counter Space Garage for ordering parts online.

Anything local I use AZP Installs.

Both shops own and track. Drop shippers are a dime a dozen, find a real shop.

Sorry to hear that @lox .

regardless of website, or shop, etc, etc...imo it was the run around that was the issue/annoyance. thats the part that would have me pissed.

it is the bait and switch, then switch more stuff, then guarantee fit and do nothing about it, that is why i posted this
purely sell, sell, sell, then no customer service to back up their persistent offer to back it up

none of that is Process West's issue, in fact the box itself was labeled from factory for a no fit

i agree that the IC itself will most likely be identical across SG, i had assumed the difference would be in the tubes

the shroud/splitter wasn't tight or loose, it was an inch too tall
think for a moment what would happen if someone tried to close the hood based on a guaranteed fit
just sayin m8s

i do not know for a fact whether RSD had the item in hand or drop shipped it
my chat person said RSD had one left, it shipped the next day
i am skeptical that it would have been that easy with a smaller shop
which is not me defending RSD, i will not purchase from them again

thanks for replying to the post, it's my review of this vendor
they demonstrated their focus on making the sale over making it right

Process West = bangers m8

RallySport Direct = no

@PaulKim
I am with you on AZP. My last XT, I bought several parts from them and a few parts through the web. They were always spot on with the parts that I would like. Great to have a shop that really knows your car.

I didn't notice this before - but you've got a 6 speed swapped in. So that means you've deleted the subframe spacers, right? That puts your engine/intercooler a little more than an inch higher in the engine bay, so any shroud/splitter you try to fit will need to accomodate that. Not Process West or RSD's fault there...

Here's my shroud trimmed down to match my spacer delete:

That's pretty odd to hear about your experience with RSD. I've only ever had amazing customer service with them. They've even called me (during business hours) the first thing the morning after I've ordered parts since I usually have the order shipped to my PO box and UPS may not be able to accommodate. I've always been able to speak to a person as well to discuss about my order if I had a potential issue.

You say that you used the website's "chat" feature? In my experience 9 times out of 10 its usually a smart bot of some sorts. I don't know if this is true for their site or not.

At any rate I hope you get it sorted out.
