Name of cover - dash top glove box?

Can someone tell me the name of the cover for the small compartment on the dash?

It's for a 2003 Forester. it's like a glove box on the dash, above the radio. The cover or lid is missing, so I need to buy a new one.

Or a part number?

I need to find the correct name or number of the part so I can look it up online, etc.

Any thoughts on where I should buy a new one? Or would it be better to go to a salvage yard?

I think it had cracks on it, so the previous owner removed it. The forum won't let me post a picture.

Thank you,
Larry

@Reno1 I see this is your first forum post, so welcome to the forum from Oregon!

Most members call that a dash top cubbie, but I believe Subaru calls it a "pocket". Take a look here on opposeforces.com Instrument panel — Illustration #2, Subaru FORESTER.

Note the part fitment is the same '03-'08, with a different clock display on the '06-'08, as the passenger airbag monitor was added.

@2.5x_sleeper thank you for the welcome and the info, but I don't think that's the part I need. Mine is on the top of the dash, above the clock, a door opens UP. Has a little latch.
(although I don't have a clock)

This web site doesn't let me post a picture or a link, which would make this easier.

@Reno1 if you have a USDM '03, then that is the part. We removed that piece when we installed a POD in its place. The pocket... cubby is a unit, with the lid. The clock fits in the lower part. The unit pops int to the dash top opening.

Take a look at the picture below, where I'm prying up the cubby to be removed. Note that it is a "unit". This is the '06-'08 cubby. The '03-'05 is the same, with a different, smaller clock.

OK, I think it's called a lid assembly-pocket, #4 on that diagram, but it seems that's more than just the lid.

Looks like they also call something else a pocket, #25 on that picture.

Thank you!

@Reno1 that part marked #25, fits under the single DIN head unit. Take a look this write up in my Member Journal: Audio Upgrade - Part 4

Scroll down & you'll see the single DIN storage pocket.

As to #4 being more then just the lid, that is correct! As I noted above, it's a "unit", as in, it's one part... the bottom & top are a unit. Odds are pretty good that you will have to buy the entire unit... assembly to get a new lid.

If you want to buy new, I'd recommend contacting Jackie, @SubaruPartsGirl here on the forum. She's a forum supporting vendor & a parts wiz! Her direct number at Annapolis Subaru is (866) 509-3019.

Tell her you're a forum member, as she gives forum members a discount!
