As far as what I read in here. Seems to be the JDM one is taller and has a different bezel. Sits differently and doesn't seem to relocate the clock pod at all.

This “JDM” one does bring the screen closer, but looks really chunky. Be mindful there are Satnav versions that have the bar with dedicated buttons and some are not 2DIN. The bottom bar also makes it look not as integrated, but would’ve meant I didn’t need to go hunting for a steering wheel with audio controls. It’s a toss up.

The more widely available version was a “gauge pod housing” and in that context, it makes more sense you didn’t need to touch it, more for “eyes only”. So using it for CarPlay, espcially Maps etc, works well. The chunkier one is more for using radios that required more interaction like pressing buttons, turning dials. Oh, and changing CDs etc.

So the one that I bought will house a double din stereo or navigation unit just fine? And that if I choose to put gauges in there along side the clock that it relocates will be OK?

Great. Thanks for that. I felt like I was going around in circles trying to figure all of this out.

Googling the part number H0010SA950ML as per Bobby - 2.5x_sleeper, his, yours and mine should the same model. Fits standard 2DIN perfectly, provided yours came with the 2DIN metal brackets.

If you're in the US, the later SG models has a clock with passenger airbag sensor indicator that my Australian model doesn't. If you're not fussed with seeing the status, you could tuck the clock away somewhere or look up that work around.

At least two CarPlay Double DIN car radios (Alpine and Sony) should have sufficient space at the back, but depends on your wiring, it could still be a tight fit.

I'm not sure if it comes with the brackets. I'm still waiting for its arrival.

Doh! I wasn't looking at the pic right. The one I bought "DOUBLEDINA950ML" comes with the same things pictured above as well

As I noted on post #52, DOUBLEDINA950ML & H0010SA950ML are the same part.

Thanks bobby, jumping into a new Subaru has made me a little retarded. I love my other two I still got. Just trying to make sure this new one gets the love it deserves.

The JDM/Euro style POD extends outward more, but the opening in the POD is double DIN, same as what we can get here in the States.

The JDM/Euro version would place the screen closer to the driver/passenger, so that's an advantage, but these are difficult to get! You should make sure you get "all" the parts, if you buy one these. Some have purchased the JDM/Euro version POD & that's all they received! It appears on these, you have to buy the parts separately, as there are different front trim pieces for different applications.

I purchased the front trim piece and brackets on japanparts.com, so we'll see if it's the right parts when it shows up. What a hassle. I need to get my legacy spec b steering wheel radio controls hooked up. That'll make all this trouble a moot point.

Quite frankly, I'm amazed and quietly thankful this part is available at all, after all these years!
