05 Forester cranks but wont start - Updated!

Hi all I'm having i am having an issue with my 05 forester x 2.5l. I was driving it and was coming to a stop sign when the car engine cut off and would not start again. Itll crank but wont fire the engine for some reason. I have already replaced the starter just to make sure it was that. I've also checked the spark plugs to make sure the were sparking since this car has 275k miles on it. I also dont think it's the fuel pump but haven't tested it yet. I am getting some error codes but not sure if they are related to the issue or not I'm getting PO102,113,123,223. Any help would be appreciated.

@Enclaveoutcast I see this is your first forum post, so welcome to the forum from Oregon!

Is the Subaru recommended maintenance, specifically, the timing belt maintenance up to date?

I'm not 100% on the matinence on the car as I bought it used. I have taken the cover off the timing belt to make sure the belt didnt break. It looked to be in ok condition just from taking off the side cover but I'm not sure if it slipped or not.

At 275K miles, you should be on the second timing belt. NOT saying the timing belt has failed, but if it jumped a couple teeth, it can cause issues.

Assume the timing belt is good, take a look at what the CEL codes are telling you. The last 2 look serious, but I'm not certain it would prevent the engine from starting.

P0102 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High
P0123 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “A” Circuit High
P0223 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “B” Circuit High

So after many hours and attempts I found that the timing belt had gone bad. The bottom cog under the water pump blew out its bearings and was riding freely. I replaced everything even the water pump, spark plugs and wire set due to everything just being older and having a misfire due to the wire set. Now its showing a code P0031 and the idle and start up is very rough. My question is that could that could screw up the idle and start up that badly.

The Subaru engine is interference fit & few members have "dodged the bullet" when the timing belt fails!

Did you do a compression test to verify there was no valve damage?

As to the P0031 - B1S1 heater circuit low.
Quote:
Possible causes:
• Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1
• Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 harness is open shorted to ground
• Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit poor electrical connection
• Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit fuse
• Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
Take a look at his thread: Code] P0031 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low...What is this?
