Forester front windshield molding?

My 2018 Forester Premium does not have a rubber molding strip on the top edge of the front windshield. I thought this was normal and the car just came that way from the factory.

However, my wife asked me to check around and I found this, showing a rather expensive two pieces of molding for the Forester Front windshield, on the internet. I figure the long rectangular (with no bottom side to the rectangle) looking one goes under the windshield, but the short one for the top is new to me:

I don't know if the top rubber molding is an aftermarket part or not. 🤔

Could you fellow Forester owners please look at your front windshield and tell me if you have that top rubber molding strip? If it is important to keep stuff or water from accumulating there, I may have to get it.

However, if most people here don't have it and believe it is unnecessary, I will not buy it for my Forester. Thank you.

@Gelbert not sure on your model year, but on the earlier models, the rubber trim/molding around the glass has to be installed with new glass, as it's embedded in the sealant. Meaning it's not possible to add to glass that's already been installed.

Looking at my 2018 I don't have the traditional rubber molding on top of the windshield like my 2010 did. However I do see a recessed rubber molding but it does not overlap the top edge of the windshield.

Thank you, Bill. I guess I'm okay. 😎

Thank you for this info. I watched a glass repair guy replace a 2017 Forester windshield on U-tube. The 2017 Forester windshield is exactly like my 2018 Forester windshield, as far as I can tell. I can see where that rubber trim/molding around the glass embedded in the sealant goes now.

So, I guess I'm okay. 😎 Thanks again.
