I'm curious why the mileage restriction? My '08 was at 180k miles with no issues, and I drive it hard. I took it apart to build it, no other reason. At this age any bushings that would need replaced due to mileage will need it just due to age alone, so the maintenance cost is almost offset imo. Just something to think about. There are plenty of great higher mileage examples that are well maintained and would be amazing cars to own.

Beautiful Forester you have there Ozark08, looks amazing!! I plan on doing full sti conversion with brand new 2007 6 speed with dccd, iag closed deck engine, suspension, etc, and am choosing this over a new chevy SS sedan, because it is more useful for my needs, but I am also planning to hold onto it for a very long time, so I am willing to pay a premium for as best of an example as possible.

Plus I have a passion for true JDM type cars, and with nice interchangeability of parts, this will be a treat to own!!!

If you're going to swap out engines and transmission, might as well not worry about a Forester's mileage. As Ozark08 mentioned, you'll have to change out normal wear parts even with a low mileage 2005 Forester. Try not to pass up a great deal because these cars don't pop up as often as you may think. It took me about 4 to 5 months of constant searching to find the right Forester and I myself was being pickier than the average buyer. Good luck!

This shop in San Diego California has 3x 5-Speed Forester XTs for sale. I don't know what their mileage are but its worth a shot to contact them to find out:

Thanks! Hopefully get the 08 back on the road this week. '11 is my daily for now, then it'll be for sale :(

I hopefully can find a low mileage bone stock example so I can modify it how I see it, instead of having several year old mods, and a chassis with 150k plus on the clock, too high mileage for me, and too many unknowns. Would prefer to do my own performance mods and do things my way.

If you look for some in the 80k range you might get lucky.

Everyone has been telling you man. You need to give up the mileage restriction. My interior is near perfect, and it was well maintained mechanically. No need to spend a ton more.

^ agree. Probably easier to find hen's teeth!

I'm thinking the only remote possibility would be to find a JDM import but of course they are RH drive. For example, an ex-work colleague of mine in Japan with a small Peugeot traveled just 8700 miles in 5 years!

What others said... For the price your willing to pay, just find the cleanest body you can regardless of the milage and buy it.. If your going to completly rebuild it with a STi setup, milage doesn't really matter.
