2019 Sport orange accents

I am seriously considering a 2019 Forester, but I cannot stand Subaru's choice of colors and trim accents.
For $2k (Canadian) to upgrade to the sport (nice to get the bigger screen and not so ugly wheels) seems outrageous. The screen probably cost an extra $50 which is all I really want (and the less ugly wheels.) They have artificially created trim levels so they can charge big bucks for next to nothing, when all you really want is the one important feature. And the other drive modes? A bit of software that costs nothing to add. Not to mention the orange accents that are almost universally derided (maybe they can be removed or painted over?) Subaru really need to fire there colour selection person. Even the exterior paint colours are lack luster.
Gonna get some flames on this, I think. Just my 2cents.

I happen to think it looks pretty sharp. That said, I would never own one with orange trim, I would be entirely sick of it in about a week. Not sure of the demographic they are hoping to grab with that, but to each their own. Some focus group somewhere must have liked the look enough for Subaru to put it into production.

On the other hand. I happen to completely agree that the strong-arming of people into trim packages to get one desired item is slightly underhanded. Unfortunately, every manufacturer does this almost universally now. The dealer knows that you can go right to the parts department and order every single bit available on the car from the parts catalog. They are betting however, that you'd rather finance the extra 2K on the front end, as opposed to paying out of pocket for singular options. Also, as an example, those wheels and bigger nav screen purchased piece meal through Subaru after the fact are going to be at least double the 2K front end cost. They know this too, which is why most people end up buying the more expensive trim level because it's cheaper and easier for them to do so. In the end the manufacturer bolsters their bottom line, and the customer gets more than they were looking for. It's supposed to be a win-win...in theory anyhow.

Your best bet is probably not to get the sport model and go aftermarket for the wheels and bigger screen if that's what you're after. It's obviously a bit of a hassle to do so, but you'll end up with wheels you'll love instead of "less ugly", plus no orange trim ;)

For $ 2000 you get not only the larger touch screen and orange trim, but you also get larger disc brakes, larger 18 inch wheels, steering responsive LED headlights and other lighting upgrades, Si mode, dual mode X mode, plus a few other minor upgrades.
I considered the Sport trim to be the best value, even though the orange trim would never be my first choice.

As most of you may know, I bought my daughter a 2019 loaded Sport back in September. I am not a fan of orange either but, I must say, it looks pretty awesome against the Dark Blue Metallic paint. I think Subaru is targeting the younger demographic as they all seem to LOVE the color combo but I'd buy it for myself if I wanted another Forester. It has been a great vehicle thus far...approaching 9K miles and ZERO issues.

I went with the Dark Blue as well. I'm post younger demographic. There's a lot to the Sport besides the black and orange visuals. I think my wife and daughters might have preferred the white or maybe silver. I'd have been happy with the Sport if there weren't any orange bits but I like the black treatment and got it not for the appearance so much as the functional upgrades over the lower trims. Including the roof rack. I think the orange is trendy and so may be dated sooner than the black treatments (which I like). OTOH, aside from the stitching, it's probably fairly easily redone. One thing to note, when driving, it's almost unseen. I sort of see the right vent, hardly see the left and seldom look down to the center console.

I would agree that there do seem to be some odd choices in color set up, like some of the colors that do or don't get the brown leather. And neither the green nor the red would work with the orange so I can see why they aren't in the Sport choices. For the nonSports, I like the green best.

My wife and I are in our mid-30's and we went with the Dark Blue Sport. We both fell in love with that color with the orange accents, and we don't see ourselves getting sick of it any time soon. I do wish Subaru offered more accent color choices though. Or options to swap out the accents after the fact.

You can always get 3M automotive vinyl and make it any color you want. Relatively cheap and not hard to do but there are ton of companies that will wrap it to whatever you want

I have searched for the link that a member posted recently, but cannot find it. The link was to an eBay seller for the interior chrome trim for the air vents and centre consul surround. These items would replace the interior orange accents. If anyone has the link, I would be grateful if they would post it here.

Ooh yeah good idea. Might look into that if we ever feel like we need to change it up :)

Does anyone have any pictures of modified orange interior trim? Successful replacement of the orange vents or anything within the interior to black out or change some of the orange trim inside? I've seen some people suggest it with parts or possibly vinyl wrap, but I haven't seen any photos of people who have done this inside their Sport. I'm in the camp of it's a bit much for me, but with some mods I would like the interior better.

If anyone has done this or know of some pictures out there I'd love to see what people have done!

You do realize that the interior Black colored parts from the Limited and other trims will fit the Sport just fine so if you want to swap out the vent and shifter trim from Orange to Black, very easy and not very expensive at all. Then you can have the Orange exterior pieces wrapped by any good shop and that shouldn't be much either.
