I generally beat EPA estimates. I think they are reasonable if you compare the results to those results that reasonable people get. Problem is many people use brakes and accelerators like "on-off switches"
My cars used to routinely get better MPG than EPA estimates. Not anymore. It seems like ever since ~2005 when they started introducing ethanol again my cars just barely get EPA ratings or slightly less.
