Hi all. We just got back from a three day trip to Yosemite Park to view the Horsetail fire fall. Mother nature had dumped a foot and a half of snow on the valley floor (elev. 4000') a couple of days before we got there and it snowed another couple of inches the first night we were there. Nothing more glorious that Yosemite Valley with a dusting of new snow. The park posted R2 chain restrictions (all vehicles except AWD/4WD must use chains) and my '19 Touring drove through it all superbly. I never lost traction even when I tried to. Guess Subaru's traction control is pretty good. At one stop I got out, took a step and slipped on some ice which almost put on my butt. But I didn't feel it while parking!
It was the first multi-day road trip in my new Forester. It drives and rides so nicely, handles well and we got about 31 mpg even though we had to warm the car up for 10 minutes each morning to melt the ice on the windows. As for a lack of power going up hills, etc. Don't believe the reviewers who say the Forester is gutless. I had no problem passing a Pathfinder on an uphill section at 3000' in elevation. All I can say is the more I drive it the better I like it. The best part was driving past people putting on/taking off chains! Seemed like all the Subaru drivers there were smiling.
