I had a fairing on my 09 FXT. The key is get a fairing that just fits between the rails. Then you had some foam to the bottom of the fairing resting on the metal portion of the roof and not on glass.

The fairing I installed worked perfectly.
I believe the larger size helped making it even more quiet. Almost all the air had to go up and not underneath the rails.
The size I used is the stock size of a 2006 Honda Odyssey minivan (my other ride).
