hey,
great journal, there are so many parts in here i didn't even know existed that i now must have. Its to bad vin numbers can't be swapped, because the vin for my fozzy starts jf1sg666, seems like it would fit your car more than mine.

Sorry for the delay I've been travelling, Too busy lately.

I don't know how the USDM works but the JDM part is a frame for the top switches, so that you click in your current switches that you wanna retain and the bottom section is the new Business card section. If you now what i mean...

I really need to do an update for my car. sorry guys.

Genuine Subaru MY06 WRX STi TMIC
Subaru Part No. 21820AA252

After feeling around underneath my SG9 STi TMIC I could tell that it already had a one piece alloy Y-Pipe. Cool. But when I tried to fit the TMIC I realised that the silicon pipe was a bit too short as the new TMIC was deeper, well that makes sense. No problem, I'll just get a longer silicon pipe and I'll remove my WRX STi TMIC so I know exactly what length pipe to make up. Hmmm. The Y-Pipes are different and the silicon pipe is different too. The Silicon pipe is a 45 degree angle for the Foz and 90 degree angle from the Impreza...
I now know there is a different alloy Y-Pipe made specifically for the SG9 STi Foz.

Comparison pics:

Intercooler with Foz Y-Pipe and Foz Silicon.

Intercooler with WRX STi Y-pipe and WRX STi silicon.

Impreza STi left and SG9 STi right:

Pipes are at different angles too as you can see in the next pic. So I was a bit worried that the angles of the pipes were designed different so that the Y-pipe clears the Pitching Control Rod.

I tried a test fit using the WRX STi Y-pipe and silicon and it fits perfectly and clears the Pitching Control Rod too.
So I left it on the Foz until I get a new one from Japanparts.com
So will using the SG9 FSTi Y-pipe and silicon on the Impreza Sti TMIC not work?

That's right fpan. I had to replace the SG9 STI y-pipe and silicon with MY06 WRX STI parts to suit the large STI TMIC.

Thanks for the other comments too guys.

The STI is still going strong and I've had no problems at all with it. I drive it every day and its a pleasure.
