The rusting looks cosmetic. If there's no serious rust on the ball or inside, a quick cleaning & paint will make it look like new. :wink: I can't say what it from or used on.

I think it is due to the narrow center. Just want some confirmation.

I would think the internal rust(if any) is all that matters. If the inside is clean, then it should be ok.
