woolfe's '19 Limited: Daily Driver & Minor Offroading

Hi all,

Recently picked up a 2019 Jasper Green Limited Forester. I purchased it to my replace my totaled 2016 Forester 2.5i; which I loved dearly and made quite a few modifications to. I never got around to making a journal for it, but I promised myself I'd keep track of all the changes I made to this one.

This car is my daily driver and I plan to frequently go camping with it just like my '16. I sleep in my car when I camp, so I make subtle changes that make camping and dailying easier. I'm more of a car enthusiast than a mechanic, so I won't be doing anything crazy. Most of my changes will be aesthetic and QoL. Once my warranty expires, potentially a minor lift.

First up, I replaced the halogen fog lights to LED drop-in replacements from OLM. They're holdovers from my '16 Foz (H16 bulbs, still compatible with the 19+ models). They're super bright and have the same Kelvin temperature and give the front a more unified look.

To-do:
  • Rain guards
  • Mud flaps
  • Wire my dashcam and radar detector
  • Mount my EZ-Pass transponder somewhere within the bumper
  • Hatch top-light
  • New horn (the MY19 horn is a god-awful tinny, embarrassing squeal)

Looking forward to all the time I spend in this vehicle. It's not the worlds fastest or best looking, but it's the experiences it gets me to that matters most 🤗

I am getting a 2020 Limited in a few weeks and would love to see how your changes are looking.

Personnaly for some reason I like the halogen fog lamps. The soft yellow seems to belong more to fog lamps and the reflection of dew, raindrops and snowflakes should be more minimal when compared to too bright LEDs.
I’m curious to see how you wire up/hide the wiring for the Dashcam with the Eyesight. I hardwired one into my 4Runner and ran the wire in the headliner to the A pillar and into the dash, but am unsure if I want to mess with the headliner in the Subaru.

Unfortunately, I sold my Forester and now drive a Tesla; but I remember tucking the cable across the Eyesight cameras housing without any negative effects. There's a gap between the plastic housing of the Eyesight system and the actual roof/headliner, and my cable was able to tuck into that without issue.
