I'm adding some window tint to my '01 Forester, and the window antenna presents a problem. Actually, the reception on the radio isn't great, so replacing the stock adhesive antenna is a welcome idea. I want to scrape off the stock antenna wire, install the tint, and add a more robust antenna. Any ideas?

The radio reception is pretty good in our '03 X & '07 FSXT. If it were me, I wouldn't mess with it. If you don't get it all off, it will show up under the tint. :wink:

Curious, has your radio reception always been poor?

New Subie owner

I've been a Subaru owner for a total of one week, and I was comparing the reception to my previous car, an early Lexus, which could pull in WUNH a little better for me, I think. The tint project will also be hampered by the rear window defroster. I may not be able to put it on all the windows, which sucks :icon_frown:

What tint are you looking at? There's no problem tinting over windows with defog/defrost wires?

Was the factory/OEM head unit replaced in your Forester?

I would suggest having a look at this thread before you start trying to take off the window antenna,

Tint goes on fine over the rear demister and antenna.
