Based on whats coming out in liberty and exiga circles, I would guess that the my11 Forester will probably have the following transmissions

NA engines
  • maybe 5 speed manual with dual range (good off road marketing perception builder)
  • likely 6 speed manual with no dual range(same as outback)
  • CVT auto (same as outback)
Turbo engines
  • 6 speed manual
  • 5 speed auto
Supposedly the dash will get a mild makeover as well with better materials.

Will anyone be delaying their purchase until these better options arrive?

If the XT has a 6 speed manual with DCCD I would probably be in the market to upgrade the MY09 (2008) XT........ might go with a black one next

Also the option of the 2.0 Turbo Diesel engine with the 6 speed manual.

Looks like it will be a wait till August 2010 for the release.

I had a test drive of the new Outback last week with the CVT
The car seemed to drive far better than I thought it would (I had just got out of the 3.6 litre Outback).

The CVT allows the engine to be nearly always in the right rev range and it feels much stronger than the 2.5 usually feels.

I was very impressed.

I would love to have seen the sand interior (like the Impreza) and improved plastics but I needed a car now so I bought a MY10 X.
