I'm not sure if this is 'normal' but I decided to check my transmission fluid (warm) and I noticed it smelled like onions/ more specifically like a fresh opened bag of Funyuns.
Is this considered a burnt smell or something completely different?
The fluid was a light golden color, I will attach a photo.
(In the photo the green color is just part of a design on the other side of the paper towel, and the black marks are just soot.)

Come to think of it, differential fluid has an odor and color like that. Are you sure you didn't pull your front differential dipstick by mistake?

I am laughing out loud, maybe I did.
Thank you.
I did look for the transmission dipstick according to a video guide- and I couldn't find it. Then I saw a yellow dipstick handle and thought that must be it!
I was wrong...that does explain a lot.
