I pulled the air box and resonator on my 15 to change plugs and found this piece of foam setting on top of the inner fender well liner. You will notice a hard plastic tab in one photo and I believe it was glued to something? I tried searching parts schematics and could not locate it?

It get's even better! I crawled under the car and have the pics for fix. The piece on the drivers side was just about ready to fly away too. The double sided tape used to hold these in is not very confidence inspiring....... You can see the piece as factory installed on the drivers side. I also show the correct orientation during installation. After removing the four clips from the bottom of the bumper cover I was able to wiggle around in there. The other pic (marked with X) is the plastic tab that the foam is adhered too.

Nice to know that our cars are being held together by double sided sticky tape. :surprise:

Any ideas what these bits are doing, anyway? Are they really redirecting airflow?

I think they are in place to direct air flow to the radiator and not into the inner fender. The one on the drivers side was just about to give way and it would have ended up at the bottom front of the fender liner. I only noticed it by pure look. The foam and inner fender liner being the same color. I'm glad it didn't go the other way and end up along the road. I cleaned all the surfaces real good and used proper adhesive to stick them back in place.
