I have a 2003 Forester. There is a 3/4" rubber tube that goes through the firewall and extends about 6" into the engine compartment. It is on the passenger side of the firewall near the bottom of the firewall. It is not connected to anything. It is slowly dripping something. What is this tube?
The reason I ask is the car just started smelling like burning rubber when I turn the engine off. I'm wondering if this is the cause of the smell. FYI, I did just have a shop replace the radiator.

Sounds like it would be the air conditioning water drain. Is it dripping water (get a drop on your finger and smell it).

A new radiator and/or hoses might be expected to make a smell during early use; paint curing and offgassing on the radiator, etc.

Good luck,
George
