I was at a shop today having my car checked out. The mechanic thinks I have a non-OEM clutch, because he said the clutch is a lot heavier, and it engages a lot more aggressive than an OEM one. He owns an 09 Forester X himself.

So I'm wondering if what he said is true, and what does an aftermarket clutch feel like? Is there a way for me to tell what kind of clutch I have?

Cheers.

You COULD look through the view-port on the top of the bell housing. If the clutch cover is silver, it's at least an Exedy. At the very worst, if it's silver it's an Exedy stage 1. There is no way someone would selectively put a more aggressive clutch in the car. You could also ask the previous owner, or look over the maintenance records you got with the purchase.
