What did you do to your subie today?

Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.
(if this is a repost, please delete it)

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car

When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!

What did you guys do to the subarus today??

I would very much regret that.

Well, I'm just making a suggestion, that's all.

With the price of bikes nowadays and after I purchased a pro-tour level Argon 18, I thought it best to get a nice rack.

It's much more convenient than a roof rack, that's for sure.

So you’re trying to be helpful by telling me to get rid of my perfectly good rack and go with your $1,000+ solution, which just turns your bike into an incredibly expensive bumper?

If I made an unsolicited suggestion that you get rid of your rack and go with mine instead, would you really consider that helpful?

I’ve been riding and racing my entire long life. And I spent many years as a mechanic in a shop as well. So, your ‘help’ is really misplaced. I’m extremely aware of all bike-carrying options and their advantages and disadvantages.

You should start your own thread about the merits of various bike-carrying methods if you just want to hear yourself talk.

It's just conversation.

Don't have to be a jerk about it.

No, this thread was not a conversation about bike-carrying methods. Not even close. Show me where I asked if I should get rid of my rack and turn my $7,000 bike into a bumper. Your ego is just hurt because I couldn’t care less how YOU choose to carry your bike.

Get a Kuat NV Base 2.0 rack.
Makes the 1Up seem like a POS in comparison.

As long as I won’t regret it.

It's good man. You should never attempt to correct or help a bicyclist  They always know best!

Yeah, but what happens when a cyclist gives unsolicited ’help’ to another cyclist? Then which one knows best?

Planning to get rid of it! my 2011 has had issue after issue lately and is not worth putting money into it at 140K!

Been wanting to do this for awhile and the weather was finally warm enough to do some painting. So I removed the wheels, hit the calipers with a wire brush attachment on a drill, a wire brush to get the harder to reach spots, cleaned them up with brake cleaner, did two coats of VHT engine primer, and then three coats of VHT caliper paint. I like the look a lot.

Here's what they looked like originally.

Excellent job! Looks great! If I wasn’t lazy, I’d do that to mine while they’re still new enough not to need any prep. But unfortunately, I’m lazy. Wanna do another set?

@2WheelsGood it wasn't that bad. I used a method I saw on YouTube using a plastic bag to mask the rotor, tape for what you don't want to be painted, and then I held a piece of cardboard behind everything so I wouldn't spray all over everything. That did leave me with a bit I had to touch up with a brush, but that was easy. All in all I think it took 3 or 4 hours. Luckily the wait for the paint between coats is only 10 minutes.

This is a great place for a rack…on the roof it will kill your mileage but back there it won’t have that affect….but it will pick up the road crap coming off the rear in sloppy weather.
Took off my winter tires/wheels and put back on the factory wheels with brand new Michelin CC2's mounted on them.
I am anxious to see how they compare to the very underwhelming Falkens that it came with.

With the CC2s, you probably don’t really need dedicated snow tires anymore. Unless you live somewhere with REALLY bad winters.
