no problem...enjoy when you wash and wax it:biggrin:

this is what I usually do my exercise during weekend.

wash
clay
wash
polish (meguiar 105 and 205) optional depends on paint condition
wax(2 layers, 1 layer and another layer next day)

ok cool will get some of the Mequirs tomorrow. the paint on this one was really nice up until the paint got on it. it was garage kept 1 owner when I got it 107,000 miles on it. any tips on stuff to keep the interior nice?

This sucked! learned when I spray painting mt Friends airplane frame, I got white over spray all over my Fozzie, all evening I have been going over it with claybar.

I have never used claybar before, but seen it mentioned on here a time or 2 after I claybar it, what should I do? polish? or not?
note to self ford white does not look good on Sadona red.. :(

I can't believe parked 50 feet away it still got covered, sunroof, windows, the whole car just white specks.
thank god the clay bar is working.
I did that to an 89 maroon camry once while spray painting a block wall. I actually used brake cleaner with trichlorethylene to get it off! It did make me a little nervous but it worked well. Not sure if paint these days would hold up or not.

Tried to fix my window noise with with tubing, didn't help much must be wind because of the gussets. Atleast this time I put the tubing in the right place.

6 hours of clay baring

Is there such a thing as to shiny?

6 hours of clay baring to get the paint over spray off the Fozzie, got it pretty well all off except on the black rubber and plastic trim.

Anyway I was surprised to see the clay bar really brought out the shine in the old paint. I went to the car wash this evening and washed the residue off and on the way home was seeing the cars in front of me, cars tail lights reflecting off the hood.

now what would ya'll suggest to keep it this shiny?
I am new to having a car nice enough to keep shiny..lol

my arm feels like it is about to fall off. but wow that shine was worth the effort.

Dang this is good thread I just discovered. I don't hang on this forum enough. Today I put mine on ramps and tweaked my new suspension setup to get rid of a faint clunk. Think I got it...we'll see after a few days of test driving.

Bought 04 STi steering rack and pedals for 08 FXT
Awesome mod (rack), you will be happy.

trust me green,if I had not gotten that paint over spray on it, I would not have even done it to mine. but after seeing the end result I am not as upset as I was yesterday. when I got the clay bar it looked like a bar of soap and I thought how is this going to work.

but a lot of elbow grease and well the results speak for them self.

the funny part was when I drove into the quarter car wash with it all clean and shiny..lol
but I wanted to spray off the residue and streaks from the clay bar.
now to see how long I can keep it clean.

I didnt' realize you got paint overspray on it, but don't feel too bad I've done that TWICE now - once hot pink, once hot yellow. PITA to get off, I still find tiny dots of yellow on my car here and there, one year later.

yeah I still have to get the paint off the black trim molding.

car was parked about 50 or so feet away when we painted my friends airplane frame. trust me if we ever do more painting the Fozzie will be under a plastic tarp.

The clay bar treatment is great! Everybody has there favorite product and I would suggest any good Carnauba wax after the clay as it will clean even more stuff off that you can't see without hurting the paint. I really like Carnauba when there are stains like tar, bugs and other goopie things to deal with. It will bring tar off with just some moderate rubbing. I used it just a few days ago after taking off a dealer badge that left behind some double sided tape residue.

I secured some of the cables I have under the hood just to be safe.
So if any of them get loose it's less chance that they will make trouble.
Now i only need to change the battery terminals. Starting with the positive terminal but it's a bit of work so I will see when that's going to happen.

I tried a piece of tubing first. Helped but didn't fix.

I used the method with large pliers to carefully pinch the gussets back together. I think I found it searching here? Works great!

I used channel lock style pliers with very long handles. The long handles made it easier to control the force (versus normal pliers or vise-grips). It is very easy for the pliers to slip and pull the rubber loose from the metal underneath, but I managed to do both sides with only 1 small tear easily touched up with black RTV. You have to kind of push in on the gusset at the same time you are squeezing the handles together. No disassembly and no parts to buy! great.
