Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car

When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!

What did you guys do to the subarus today?? :biggrin:

A buddy and I took some pics of our cars. He did some mild off-roading and I screwed around in some gravel at way to fast. Was fun stuff, though got a few chips on my paint and wheels from gravel but whatever. Foresters need some off road love now and then!

Thursday- New (lightly used) wheels and (new) tires. Sport Edition F9 16X7.5" w/ 48mm offset and Michelin Harmony 215/65-17.

Saturday- washed and waxed!!- Wheels look sweet.

Today- 240 mile round trip to the East Broad Top Railroad in Rockhill Furnace, PA. The new Michelins are sweet handling, sooth riding and super quiet on asphalt.
washed mine for the First time. yesterday went to radio shack and brought home a 10' antenna mast duck taped to the top rack.
Replaced left upper brake light.

Saturday:
Fitted new KYB struts and custom made springs... have gone back to stock ride height but with stiffer springs (204lb/in front, 145-175lb/in rear). Ride is like velvet yet it is nice and flat through the corners - even compared to the WRX struts I had on before.

Sunday:
Was glad to have my 2-3" of ride height back so I took it for a blast on some dirt tracks.

Today:
Cleaned it! ;o)
ordered a nice Tein frontstrutbar for her (SH ,4aet, 2 ltr nap ):biggrin:

Wim
replaced the transmission.
fulfilled every badge of ownership in my Subie.
booked it in at the most local "mod friendly" dealership to get my rear-end noise diagnosed...
hopefully the 1½ hour drive won't be too much on her :frown:
Yesterday:
Broke the rear sway bar mount having too much fun!

is that a n/a header? Why is there an UP in that picture?
^that's be kind of cool if it worked on both though, just by eliminating the up-pipe section... with something else.

IF ANYONE KNOWS OF 08+ N/A HEADER THAT BOLTS UP - LET ME KNOW

That being said. Yeah, it's off an STi. I have the up-pipe. I plan to use the header to up-pipe, chop and add some more pipe then re-weld the up-pipe's flange back on to mate with the mid-pipe. Worth it??
^that actually sounds like it'd work out pretty well. reuse the up-pipe's flange to weld a section to match your existing cat. Nothing a decent muffler shop couldn't tackle.

Assuming that header didn't cost an arm and a leg that is...

Oh and my noise was the wheel bearing... which has now been replaced.

Why? :icon_redface:
well if it was like say... the Perrin equal length header which sells for ~700, or the other various examples out there for over 800. I wouldn't want to hack up the uppipe in one of those combinations.
but that's just my opinion...
Hmmm...valid opinion. Should I buy an el cheapo UP to modify that? Or hell, just have the exhaust shop fab that part in general? This is an UEL, and I assume it is good quality. I paid a bit for it (as I have a new car and don't want to risk buying eBay bull****). Guy that had it before me said it fit right up...no issues.

Man...I'm gonna have to hack this thing up. I have a PZEV and appearntly plenty of o2 sensors that need some bungs on this new header. FML
its up to you really... from the look of it I'd say their uppipe is unique to their own header because of the three-bolt flange. Everybody else uses a two-bolt flange I believe.
So you might as well just go for it and use that up-pipe, or even have the flange duplicated and try selling the up-pipe on its own over on NASIOC or something.
Dropped the car off with my mechanic to have the following installed:

* B&M Transmission Cooler
* 4-Pot WRX Calipers w/ OEM Pads
* Brembo Front Rotors
* StopTech SS Brake Lines
* Kartboy Front Endlinks
* Swift Front and Rear Sway Bars
