What did you do to your subie today?

Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car

When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!

What did you guys do to the subarus today??

PM sent...

Drove it home, and noticed that it seems to be "missing" when I get on it. A VERY irritating thing to have happen, especially after I just went through hell for the past 4 weeks with timing issues. If it's another timing issue, I may blow a gasket (in my head).
Prepping it for trade
your going for it huh?
Yes, but I feel bad....like the Subaru is mad at us:icon_frown:

Check my sig thread for details
Dynamatted doors and installed new speakers

Yesterday I installed Polk Audio dB 651s in the front and rear doors. I also put Dynamat in the doors while I had the panels off. From what I've heard so far, it's a good improvement.
took the engine out, then striped it down to a short block to find out why it died on me.
found a 8mm socket in the drivers side head

Oh man. You've been having some bad luck with the foz lately :( Did all of this start after that trip into the mudhole?
For the 1st time since I own it.... nothing at all, didn't even look at it :icon_redface:

really!?!

I had that happen once. An old buddy of mine left one in a cylinder when we were doing a head job on my sister in law's Dasher. They never did get married.

ruh roh!

I drove mine.
I've had a major headache trying to get my spoiler install right. Please check out my journal to see what's up.
really!?!

but the thing is it had to be in for 3 months now. it took that long to damage the head
Full wash, wax and vacuum. Gotta love the shiny smooth goodness and clean wheels. Weathertechs are a godsend, keeping the floors mud and salt-free, minimal effort to clean. The moonroof is a PITA to get the 404 protectant around the entire window gasket.

Have to pick up some touch up paint.. Man, that paint is soft.

I should be buying stocks in simple green. Great stuff.

Going for my ABC maintenance, do they check the moonroof bits as well?

Not the first time I have seen that but.. 8mm??? Not a lot of 8mm stuff on the 3 Forester I have or had.. 10mm I would understand..
There is nothing like the sick feeling you get when you finish a job and a tool is missing.. Pulled several engines back apart because of it..

Took mine to the car wash, scheduled and appointment for body repair, and took pictures of it.
Okay well this weekend.... I modified my mud flaps to fit the Foz, did an oil change, put the subie logo on my grill, swapped hood scoops, cleaned the inside, fixed the rear cup holders, glued down more floor paneling in the trunk, and then drove to Six Flags :)
Hauled 25 car wash kits in the back for the upcoming meet!
took it on a 1600 mile road trip to Helen, GA for a VW show over the weekend.

coils appear to have settled nicely; now to finish dialing in ride height and double-check the alignment.
almost forgot...

also readjusted the hurst shift knob i got for it; added the boot holder/locking nut. now the boot stays in place and the knob is torqued down to spec.
