Awesome story. You should write it up and send it to subaru. I work at a local hardware store and we stay open through almost all adverse weather. Anyway I was on my way home from work during the worst part of the hurricane. Unknown to me the back roads had downed powerlines crossing the road. I drove right past the "downed powerlines" sign as the wind had blown them into the woods. I would have run right over the lines except one of the locals strung caution tape from their mailbox across the road and to a tree. I had to drive through some muddy ditches to get turned back around but the Soobie handled it just fine. Even with the bald geolanders.

thanks, I wish I had taken pictures or even better had a friend with me to film some of the things. Unfortunately I was by myself and since much of the damage was happening as I proceeded and I had run into a couple delays where some roads had already been blocked off by the town/police and had to find alternate routes adding more time I decided to just try to concentrate on finding my way home before it got dark and before the roads became shut down and I had to turn around and go a much longer way home adding hours to the trip...
thats good that you didnt get caught up in any downed lines and made it home safely...I also ran into an perdicament on one road that I decided to risk going down to avoid an additional 30min on my trip even though I had to go around some cones that had been placed across the road

...after driving slowly for about a mile I came across a section of road where several trees had fallen across the road but were resting on the power lines on the other side keeping them about 8ft above the road surface.....now I know what most people would think "dont try going underneath...what if the cables snap suddenly..etc..etc" but I pulled up to the "no return point" to get a close look and decided "screw it" im gunna go for it I need to get home...Gunned it and flew underneath the trees and continued on my way.. looking back it was probably stupid but in the end I made it home without harm or damage and had an interesting day to remember..
Still seeing footage of areas that were hit very hard...hope you are all safe and doing well. Ill actually be travelling back east and then up to Plattsburgh this weekend to visit my girlfriend who is in nursing school there so maybe I can get some pictures of the condition of the route that I take as it is now. And if there is anyone in any of those areas in the adirondacks or up towards plattsburgh that needs any help or supplies let me know and Ill try to help if I can.
