insulated all four interior door panels with a layer of fatmat (ebay) and then a layer of ensolite (Rick at RAAMaudio, excellent service!) on top of that, to try to quiet the car down. they've made a nice difference- when going over bumps and breaks in the pavement, i hear less rattling and the rattling is also muted. i can also hear my stereo better while driving, and the bass does not cause rattles like before. next step is to complete the same treatment for the actual doors, behind the interior panels. i've also been doing this for the rear hatch and the spare tire well, like Tony (Turn In Concepts) has done with his ride. p.s.: i did not do this all "today"! finally got to enjoy the fruits of my labor couple days ago...

Didnt happen today, or even yesterday, but I havent been on in a while, I had the unlucky experience of blowing my head-gaskets at a track day with my car club over the weekend. :icon_cry: Since I'm at college, I also get to experience getting my poor Subie towed the 3 1/2 hours home.

Oh well, it was going to happen eventually, especially with over 140,000 miles on the original head-gaskets. Now I get to replace lots of stuff and have a much more "fresh" engine.

Another good day for my car! Washing her all weather mats because they are filthy...

Then going to get some new tires! Riken HR's to be exact...I have been hearing really good stuff about them!

I finally got to drive it!!!! :woohoo:
Nothing wrong with it, I commute in the other car. I hope it stays nice so I can drive home with the sunroof open and windows down.

Returned from my first long road trip in the new 2.5X MT - enjoyed Disneyland with my daughters. Hwy MPG was better than expected, 27.9 @ 75 mph. Performance though - my fault of course for not splurging on the turbo. The Grapevine (I5 heading over the mountains into LA) has long been my proving ground for vehicle performance. My last two cars, both with V6, zipped up the left lane with power to spare, as though the mountain was a speed bump. In the new Forester, loaded down with luggage and daughters, we slogged up the middle lane with all the other practical, frugal, merely-adequately-powered masses. Made me feel very ordinary.

ripped out the hill holder clutch setup because it sucks when it breaks and doesnt let you go without fighting the brakes like crazy
How did you do this? The hill holder feature (according to every Subaru mechanic I've talked to and a question I sent to SOA back in 2004) is a built-in part of the braking system. Can't disable hill-holder without effectively disabling the brakes. Maybe the system has changed since the 2004 model?
