What did you do to your subie today?

Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car

When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!

What did you guys do to the subarus today??

that sucks. so, you can't even do the lightest tint? one of the reasons why i want to keep my car CA-registered when i move to NY. i definitely want to change my front limo tint to something with a higher %, though.
No tint at all (on fronts) in CA according to the cop who gave me a ticket.
^
VLT% for front-side windows in CA is 70% or more. if yours was, you should contest your fix-it ticket.

^Front two cannot have any tint at all in NJ.
^
yeah, that's what i read for NY.
1 seems to be the % of the film alone while 2 is with it actually applied.
i like the whole tahoe scenary in the winter. i can't wait to finally drive my subaru in the snow. i've only driven rentals in the snow, none of which were subarus.
Hauled 2 6" bookshelves in my07 yesterday. Reinstalled my TXS RFL muffler today.
those are some miniaturized books.
just pulling your chain. lol :N_poke:
wheel alignment
valve lash adjustment. obviously followed by new oil (5w-30 for out east) & filter. now it feels tighter and more responsive. no more tick - tick - tick - tick. at least not yet. we'll see. sucks that i've got a misfire in cylinders 1 - 4.
that's what i said. it looks like there was a white thing that was electronically cut & pasted. maybe a different angle would have helped.
^^ I knew right away what it was, but then again I have the exact same basket and fairing, so I was at an advantage.
ohhh.. i see it, now! haha
i thought there was something weird in front of an aftermarket roof rack. it was a fairing on a roof basket.
taped the corners of my heating elements for my seat warmers. they were crawling towards the middle. lol

oh, and a car wash.
changed rear diff' oil.
Collecting mine from mechanic today after new belts, pulleys, plugs, n full service. Been nearly a week since I'v seen it, cant wait to drive it home :Banane17:
Not looking forward to paying for it tho:tissue:
pics! let's see your irish forester.

what are you using to scan with?

i use Torque for Android. there's another one that's very generic but is supposedly a work-in-progress called OBDroid.
installed a reflashed ECM and a CAI pipe i modified, then later took this video clip:

thanks. when i was running back to my car from the grocery store, some elder guy spoke out saying: nice wheels.

i say: hey, thanks.

he says: nice car. nice everything on your car. i like your subi.

i thought: weird coming from a guy who could be retired, and drove a newer kia, and i say: thank you.

i tried to wait for him to leave, but he was standing there like he was waiting to hear or see me drive off. idk? when i start the engine, it took a while and no fire. that's the first time it has ever done that. i tried a second time and as weak as the start was, i gave it a little throttle to get it to fire up. since my rebuild, it has always had a strong startup. idk what happened that time. anyway, so i then drove off kind of embarrassed. lol
Installed KARTBOY Short Shifter and KB White Delrin Shift Knob!!!
Gracias Mi Amor... :)
Great Quality KARTBOY
did you go with an impreza shifter or a forester one? if a forester one, does it seem to be shorter than the factory shifter?
picked up some M8 x .8 nuts for my scoop.

did this (using some clear folder from staples) so the electrical components wouldn't constantly be wet and sit on top of the engine collecting sand and making it all gunky or go down the opening to the flywheel.

anybody know what year GC had that accordian shift boot? the factory one annoys me so much.

See less See more
hows air going to get to the innercooler with a folder blocking the way? still see the top mount on there
^
if it were a tmic, i'd be happy to leave it alone.

That's the stock airbox on the NA motor. By the looks of it he has a cold air intake, can't tell for sure though.
^
ganzflow-style intake.

so he has a XT hood on a n/a? lol

i googleed it and that it the airbox on a a 01 NA
^
sf5 hood on a sf6
