Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car

When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!

What did you guys do to the subarus today??

Washed & Polished my '04 FXT for the first time. Tried out Turtle Wax Ice Polish and it works great on Black Java Pearl and very easy to Apply & Buff. Used Turtle Wax tire shine through out engine bay after degreasing / steam clean with simple green. Tire shine works great on those hard to reach areas and tight spots.

Bought and installed K&N Drop-in Filter.
Pull open fender well to plan on removing Snokus and route tubing to either stock headlight position or dryer cooler area.
About the pull nail out or rear driver side tire and plug it once it gets cooler outside.
Replaced Timing Belt , Tensioner, and Timing Idler Bearing.

Replaced Tires with Potenza G019 Grid at Firestone next to Coddingtown Mall. I still have to take shots with the tires on, had to go to dance practice after I left firestone.

Then washed and spray waxed the FXT at the coin wash even though the pictures are deceiving. Its covered in pollen.

Added 5/16 vinyl tubing to the drivers / passengers front window seals to get rid of wind noise.

Packed her up to drive to Hemet, CA after work Friday.
Ordered a GripForce OEM clutch, SubaruForester.org, Scoobiesforboobies, and NASIOC.com Pink stickers. Hopefuly the pinks are close to each other so that they match. All for saving the Ta Ta's and more visibility to be spotted .. LOL
Did my 3k mile oil change. Just wished the drain hole was smaller so that it would come out like Niagre Fall when I pull the plug. Good thing I had a deep oil pan to catch it .. lessons learned from the first time I changed it with a small pan I usually use on my old Corolla GTS.

At the same time took at look at the engine mounts to plan to do my tune-up next time.

Picked up a '06 STi Catback Exhaust before heading out to DelMar Fairgrounds to eat a Sweet Potato Corndog & Huge Carmel Bacon Donut
Monday will be getting "Warranty Solutions" to replace my Alternator at Firestone. Bearing is going out on the Alternator so is making knocking noise.

I diagnosed it before going to Firestone with my ear to a long screw driver (Stereoscope), but warranty folks want a Licensed Mechanic (Firestone) to work on it. And it took them 2 hours to track down the faint noise. They only needed to take off the belt to verify, but they did it the hard way. And also made it worse somehow making it from a faint noise to loud annoyance.

Now have to wait for Monday when the warranty folks can pay Firestone $360+ for something I could have done myself for $175 or less. Didn't take to dealer cause they would have charged $85+/hour to diagnose that is not included in the warranty coverage when I already know what it is.

I'm getting my money's worth from this Extended Warranty! They already replaced the Timing belt & tensioners, Transmission, Clutch and now the Alternator within a 2 year period.
Dropped off FXT to dealership in carlsbad for warranty claim # 4. Valve cover gasket leaking oil on exhaust manifold. Had me worried cause smoke was coming from turbo area.
