What did you do to your subie today?

Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car

When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!

What did you guys do to the subarus today??

Used her to test some used cruise control parts, so I could sell them.
Maybe not did to...But did with.....

Pulled the stump of the tree that got broken in last weekends snow storm out of the ground.

And purchased a set of aluminum 5 spoke mags with almost new Yokohama tires on them for $160.00 at the local Pull-N-Pay yard today!!! Yeah for me!!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

P.S. The tires are Yokohama AVID TRZ 16" tires. On Discounts website they list for $101.00/each and are 80K tread wear. I scored a DEAL!!!!!!!
Well.... After putting another 150 miles on it today I:

1. Got my newly aquired Yokohama tires and 5 spoke wheels balanced.
2. Changed the oil and filter, right on time at 3,000 miles.
3. Installed my new tires and wheels. Man it looks good.
4. Checked all the fluids.
5. Looked for any leaks, none. At 224,363 miles that's not bad.
6. Looked at the 2001 instrument cluster sitting on my work bench. Gotta get to work sorting out the wiring so I can install that.

Whew.... I guess that's enough for today.

Actually did this yesterday

Changed her plugs and fuel filter.....

And installed a 2001 instrument cluster..... Now I have an outside temp display and 2 trip odometers.

I really like how it looks. The red pointers are really nice, they almost glow.

Hey, did you have to do anything special to get the temp readouts to work? I'm thinking about picking up an '03 cluster for my '00 Outback (same sort of differences).

Just curious if the sender is already there, or if you had to rig one up.
I had to purchase a sender and mount it. I was able to purchase a new one for $32.00. I got the wiring pigtail off the car that I got the cluster out of.

Moved it from the big garage to the small garage. Put the miles on the Harley today.

Put on my winter tires..... Dang I hate the sound of that.
Yesterday I figured out how to add variable timed front intermittant wipers to my MY99. I just changed the wiper switch out with one from a 2004 XS. It was plug and play. It also has the intermittant rear wiper speed, but that also has a relay box in the RR 1/4 panel that I need to see if I can wire in so they will work.
I installed a dual front cupholder and auto-dim mirror with compass. Found both at the wrecking yard on an 01 S Premium yesterday.
Yesterday I replaced the RR wheel bearing, with the help of a friend with a Subie shop to press the bearing in.
Yesterday I put on my winter tires, not snows, just some nice soft All-Weather tires. I forget how good it rides on the Michelins!
Changed the oil and filter.
I replaced the timing belt and all related parts for a friend on their Forester!
Installed new KYB struts all the way around, New tires, new steering rack boot and an alignment. I think I gained at least a 1/2" in ride height with the new struts. First set of struts on this car in almost 300K miles!

And best part is I got the struts for $75.00/each online!

I am gonna be happy with the way she rides and handles now! No more basketball tires!
