I want to install a new head unit in my 14 XT premium but I have a few questions before I go ahead and do it. Hopefully someone has already gone through it and can answer my questions

Will the back up camera still show on the dash display?
Will the USB and 3.5mm aux in the armrest console still work on the new deck?
Will ALL the steering wheel buttons work with the new deck (Bluetooth, volume etc)?


These might be some of the dumbest questions, but I just don't want to invest time and money in a screen and it end up not doing what I'd like it to do. Thanks.

No, these aren't dumb questions, they are all pretty valid. Luckily, many of us have experience with replacing head units -- just search in the threads in this forum for various install threads from different people.

Back up camera and USB and 3.5mm jack - should be possible, but you may require some adapter harnesses. I know David Carter (SVXdc -- his website is ae64.com) sells harnesses to adapt the 3.5mm jack and I believe the USB one as well. Can't answer for sure about the backup camera.

The steering wheel buttons should work, depending on the head unit you're getting. You will probably need to buy an adaptor box such as the Metra Axxess AWSC which you will wire into your steering wheel wires (again, using a harness you can buy from David Carter).

The backup camera is independent of the stereo, so you should be fine. However, you will lose the radio information that shows up on the dash display. That said, it's not a big deal since it will display on your new stereo.

You may want to check over this thread. I think im the only one who has done the rear cam to an aftermarket hu but it is possible but needs to be on both displays. http://www.subaruforester.org/vbull...rket-dash-nav-2014-xt-swap-backup-cam-154385/.

As stated ae64.com is the place to start with adapters. SVXdc(David) is awesome and helped me through my install.
