I know it’s a 2010 Outback but at about 2:56 into the video the driver says “notice the VDC light didn’t come on.”
YouTube - Hill Climb, 2010 Subaru Outback Launch. 07.23.09
I wish they would of elaborated on this because in my experience I would of turned off the traction control on my 09’ Forester if faced with that hill climb.
I was stuck in the snow last winter and my Forester seemed to do better with traction control off.

Looked like a Mazda. I was surprised the Ford didn’t make it up. But I’m sure a lot of it could have had to do with tire selection.

How do we know the ford did not get up? Except it came reversing down the hill but that makes sense in that case. lol
Depending on how the system works It's not always better to have it on. Not for climbing a hill atleast.
I'm thinking about cutting power to the wheels and such.
