UEL Header with factory exhaust

UEL Header with factory exhaust?

So I’m thinking about picking up a knockoff UEL header for the forester. My current exhaust setup is factory. I’m wondering how that would sound.

I Had a 2010 Camaro SS with long tube headers through the factory catback at one point and I really enjoyed the sound. Upped the volume a bit but didn’t drone or anything.

Wondering if there would be a similar outcome with the EJ25.

Here's my 03X with some ebay type headers. NOTE: You might hear a whistle that was from my old stock muffler, ignore. Have since replaced with another OEM style muffler, whistle gone.

They are still on the car almost 4 years later and doing well. However, you will have to deal with a CEL in most cases (P0137 i think mine was). In mine I had to back the downstream o2 sensor off with a sparkplug antifowler type device marketed as an 02 sensor spacer, which has since rusted out and broke off stuck in the bunghole - so yeah, typical car mod stuff.... i thought the car felt a bit peppier after the swap as well, could just be me though - either way the car will never be fast but has some pep.

Thanks for the reply!

That looks to be a factory style cat back?

That’s the sound I’m looking for, little rumble but don’t to piss the neighbors off....that’s what the other car is for lol.

So you would suggest picking up an O2 sensor simulator or whatever they’re called to avoid the CEL?
Yup maybe one of those simulators might be a good idea if you don't to deal with the other fixes and potential problems. I actually tried making a simulator with radio shack parts and it worked (actually turned off the CEL, not cleared manually), but it failed later - not sure why yet as it's my daughter's car now and she lives with Mom.

Yup stock catback - and yeah it does sound like about what you want - nice rumble, but not obnoxious - my wife never complained or anything -of course once the muffler started falling off then it sounded GLORIOUS!!! But yeah neighbors not so happy so add to go get a new muffler lol
