I was removing the intake snorkel, and cleaning up the engine bay, and noticed there is two intake filters. One on the top box, and one in the regular filter box.

Is there a common practice of removing one of these? Probably the top one would make the most sense, since it is after the MAF sensor?

Thanks for the input.

There should be only a gasket in the upper box.

Yours is in a change over year where the filter was moved to the fender and the top box had only a gasket to seal it.

The top box has to be sealed, whether with a filter or with the gasket.

There already is a thread about it with the gasket part number, I'll see if I can find it.

I could technically just removed the filter part correct? Leaving the gasket?
