Anyone else had this experience:

Model: 1998 Forester 2.0

Observed problem:
Without any obvious external cause all the right side turn signal lights (also instrument panel indicator) are turned on constantly (no blinking) whilst head lights are switched on. When the light switch handle is turned off, the turn signal works normally. This occurred gradually, typically seen in "loose" short circuits.

Examinations performed:
-Light switch fuse pulled out makes turn signal work normally.
-Light switch handle assembly is dismantled, cleaned and checked for err electrical connections, but no faults are found.
-Relays and cable connections are rocked by hand in case a short circuit would disengage. No effect.

My assumption:
-A short circuit somewhere is probably the cause, but where?
-I suspect the fault to be localised is the proximity of the automatic head light shut-off (this is probably a special tweak for the Norwegian market, as cars must have lights switched on at all time whilst driving).

Can anyone provide wiring info/diagram?

Thanks...!

I'd check all ground points before going any further, it might just be that the headlamp is grounding itself through the indicator circuit.

Found it!
Cable connections for the trailer lights were corroded and made a short circuit. Refitting a new connector solved the problem.

Thanks.
