Not the ones I've been getting.
Not the ones I've been getting.Because there are counterfeits and pricy.

Because that paper is worthless in reality. We've all seen it and read about it.Why even go that far?
If in the USA, The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act specifically mandates that manufacturers can’t force owners to use OEM parts, such as filters, and it’s the manufacturer’s responsibility to prove a third party part caused damage before denying warranty services.
There are several quality aftermarket filter manufacturers to choose from, with proven track records. The filters the OP purchased were probably made by the lowest bidder on the contract…and it shows.
But, To Each His Own…
Not really worthless, but pretty close. Folks love to toss around Magnuson-Moss but in reality there are very few cases of it being used. The cost and aggravation of litigation is usually more than the repair in question.Because that paper is worthless in reality.
Cleaning done but may be more to follow if this thread does not stay on topic![]()
OEM filters are in short supply. Sometimes they have to replace the filter with whatever filter they can get their hands on.I just purchased a CPO 2017 Forester XT yesterday. The dealer showed me the paperwork for the work they did to get the car up to the CPO standard which included an oil change. They used a Carquest R84712 oil filter and not one of the SOA recommended ones.
I’m surprised that they didn’t use an OEM filter and went with a low priced Carquest one. I did purchase a NAPA Gold filter this afternoon with the intent to swap out the Carquest in the next day or two so I have a higher quality filter installed.
