I wonder if I can get them to do the TSB even though I am out of warranty. It does look like there is a new part number for the blower motor. Originally it was 72223FJ000 but now the current part is 72223FJ001. It looks like this part can be found on eBay for $107 shipped so would probably be the way I would go instead of arguing with the dealer.

Since I installed the Crosstrek blower cover, I haven't been bothered by the noise so probably won't mess with it.

Ask the dealer, if they are good they may do the TSB anyway or cut a deal on it as a courtesy.

Pwersha, what is special about the Crosstrek blower cover and why did you install this on your Forester?
My '15 had a cover just like the Crosstrek one, the only difference is the Crosstrek one had a piece of white fabric with stuffing to help absorb noise.

The cover under the dash, correct? The white fabric was inside the plastic cover?
Wouldn't do much good on the outside :)
Eh, I've been under the dash/hood in many vehicles and sometimes they put sound damping material outside the plastic cover and sometimes inside. Either way it will help, inside is better imo and less prone to people's feet kicking against it and ruining it.

The stock cover on the Forester is just plastic and has a cutout by the blower motor. For the Crosstrek one, it doesn't have the cutout so it actually covers the motor and also has some sound deadening material on the plastic.

See pictures, the shiny materials on the small stock cover is something I added to try to block the noise.

Doubt I would go through getting this TSB fixed past warranty, using the Crosstrek blower motor cover fix worked for me for around $30.
