Is the oil filter for the auto box the same as the standard oil filter? And where do you top it up? I'm assuming through the dipstick hole. If thats the case, how much oil does it require.

No they are different. Don't put the engine one on for the tranny. And don't buy an after market one for the tranny. And it isn't recommended to change it. Yea..fill it through the dipstick tube.

If you drain the pan on the level it will take about 6 ounces short of a gallon to fill.

Dont change, ever? It's 11 years old. It must need changing at some point.

Strange but true it seems. Well thats one less thing to buy. thanks for the advice peeps. :biggrin:

Our transmission oil and filter don't have to deal with combustion by products like the motor's lubrication system does. I think that is why the filter change is not necessary. Heat is our tranny's biggest enemy not contamination.
