My 99 forester automatic seems to have an issue downshifting where the revs will come up some and the whole car will jerk. Sometimes it also squaks the tires. Has anyone had the same or a similar issue?

How often has the fluid been changed? Does it have a "Subaru" ATF filter installed?

fluid seems fresh but not sure on the history. filter looks like a Subaru one.

Which downshift? The 4-3 can be quite rough at the best of times.

Might sound crazy, try disconnecting the batt, resetting the ECU and TCU.

It seems most noticeable on the 3-2 downshift.

It may be a 'legitimate issue', that is, worn or hardened seal, etc.

I hate to say it but there's little downside to trying some trans-x, probability is it won't really help but there is little to no risk in trying it.

is their a typical cause for the 3-2 downshift causing the drivetrain to bang and squeal the tires, or whathave you?
