First off let me say hello and that i really have enjoyed reading this forum so far for all my subaru related questions. I was a jeep guy up until i sold my cj and got my 98 forester so i know a couple things about using a forum to aid me in fixing a problem. This is a great forum and I was over joyed to find it. Now on to business.
While driving down the highway not to long ago, my timing belt tensioner failed leaving me with what i am told is a bad situation. Now i love my subaru. And do not want to get rid of it. Is there a thread on how to fix this? I would prefer to fix this my self to save money. can anyone help me?

If the belt let go, you'll probably need new/rebuilt heads, rebuild your current heads or more depending on how long it ran with the belt broken.

Easiest would probably be to swap in a used long block.
