GradeA subaru and Forestors in Bilston are 2 well known and reliable breakers, otherwise try trauling Scoobynet classifieds or the bay.

Yes once you swap the water cooling pipes and actuator its a straight swap, very easy.

Will add a couple of geegee's at most, it will need a remap to get the best from it, and you may have boost control issues on the stock maps though I doubt it.

remap is the costly bit out of my depth now. big bucks i understand but thats where the big horses live. having said that if i could get 200 bhp i would be happy

You don't need a TD04 to get to 200bhp, just some minor mods and a boost 'increaser' of some sort will get you to about 220bhp - which is where I am at, and you retain the super early spool of the smaller turbo.

The TD04 has a larger compressor and turbine wheel than your TF035-6, other than that they are very similar.

The Prodrive performance pack on the 01-> engine made 213bhp (from memory, awaiting computer back from the IT dept with my files on) so your 200 target is easy.

To get to circa 200bhp you'll be looking at a freer flowing exhaust, maybe with a secondary cat' delete, ideally an up-pipe change (though not essential) improved flow from turbo to intercooler (silicon hose or STi parts) and increasing the boost to just below the overboost fuel cut, around 0.8 bar.

can the boost on the standard turbo be increased it should be running at about .5 bar at the moment. is it an easy job to do or will my garage bollocks this idea and revert back to the td04 route ta.

Boost is easy to increase, 3 ways
1/ Bleed via a valve or drilled orifice (Ghetto boost mod)
2/ Dawes device (often called an MBC -£20 ish)
3/ Electronic boost controller (prices from £60 to lots)

All DIYable.

My mods....
K&N Filter in stock airbox
Later 01MY turbo with larger turbine housing (as yours has anyway)
STi pipework from turbo to intercooler
Ported pipework and I/C entry, sealing of airleaks in intercooler feed from scoop.
Expansion tank isolated mount from manifold
STi exhaust (V3/4) centre
Modified STi8 backbox
Boost increased to circa 0.8 bar

Note your exhaust line is different to mine if its 01MY with catted up-pipe, and seperate underfloor catalyst.

Would it still pass emissions with the one cat in the up pipe and a middle cat delete ?

just a thought

and or

Catless downpipe but just a mid pipe cat

just for MOT purposes

Nick, 01MY doesn't have mid pipe cat but a seperate underfloor cat between DP and centre, it will pass on just that cat, takes longer to get hot is all, but will definately pass on a downpipe cat and no underfloor (as PPP on certain MY Impreza).

been reading about these dawes thingys seems as long as they are set right there ok. other people say definite no no. do u need any other bits if i go ahead with this. i might try and get somebody to fit it so its set up correctly seem u can overdo this boost carry on and then bang good night mr forester. just spoken to revolution subaru specialists they agree with u can fit me a blitz electronic booster with four settings for 400 quid which he rekons will give me approx 20bhp ouch.

They are easy to fit, and then just gradually increase boost until you trigger the overboost fuel cut (you'll know it!) and then back off a little.

No need for that expensive an EBC, the Hybrid ones sell for £60 and work just as well, and you'll get more than +20bhp out of it!

sounds the best option. any good companies to hit on for the right gear. exhaust goes on next week s/thro pipe leaving the front pipe alone. im done hope fully after this but would really like this boost system. is it just set to pressure in the engine bay or do u have a manual in cab control thanks for your time and help. is it worth upgrading any turbo pipes etc while im on
