Hi, all! Found this forum and figured I'd lurk for a while, before finally registering. :p

So... not sure what's really relevant information... but I drive a 2001 Subaru Forester S (it's my parents'), and I'm completely in love with it! Haha. It's a great little car. My username is Amber Foresty because I go by Amber online, and I named my car Foresty a while ago. xD; Sounds kind of immature, but hey!

My dad has a 1991 Legacy sedan but I don't like it very much. xD; Both Subarus are standard 5-speeds.

A big hobby of mine is actually watching trains so I take this car on road trips sometimes. It's quite an enjoyable ride. It still drives reasonably well, even with 423,000 kilometres on the clock. :p We got this thing when it had 350,000 km's on it in about 2009, I think, and I only started driving last July, and got my license in April of this year, at which point it had 407,000 kilometres on it, so I guess that I drive it quite a lot! :p

I have also attached a picture of my vehicle. It's not the best picture. xD; However, I think it shows off my car reasonably well.

bobk25: Thank you very much! Yeah, I like the colour! :p And, yeah, hopefully it gets there!!! xD; I'm going off to university next year and I won't be able to afford to have the car then so it will be staying at my parents' house and my sisters will be driving it. :( It's stood up to copious amounts of abuse from my new driver skillz, so I'm hoping it will make it to 500k! And I have a YouTube account, Amberleaf29, for train videos, if you wanna have a look. :p

2.5x_sleeper: Thanks! I will have to take a look at your journals!

HotShot308: Thank you! After driving our family's Ford Escort (broke down), and Pontiac Montana van (still running), I have to say that Subaru is a superior choice. ;P I love this car, haha. I'm already sad about having to leave it in a year when I go off to university. :p

Blaze2099: Thanks! :)

Seans11Forester: Yes, I've been told that by numerous people!!! Considering all the abuse it's put up with in the past year and a half while I've been learning to drive...! :p

Welcome :) Nice looking Foz you have there. It is great to see young people involved with cars! Are you learning to do you own maintenance?

adc: Thanks!

ScoobieRoo: Thank you! :) And, sort of; I know how to check the oil and the other fluids, etc., but I'm not sure how to change a tire, which I should ask my dad about. :p Learning more as time goes on, though!

Have your dad show you how to do the basic stuff, oil changes, filters, etc. And try to at least have a little bit of an understanding about how your car works. Even if you do not want to do your own work, it will help you know what is going on with your car and understand what repairs are needed.

My dad generally has me sit in the garage when he does work on the car, or we've taken it to the shop (his work has a workshop where employees can work on their own cars), so I've seen him replace a fender, two starters, gotten a good look at the alternator, and we bled the clutch and the brakes a few times... Actually, I need to make sure he orders the rest of the parts he needs to fix my brakes. Haha. So I'm getting a better idea of what's going on; my car has had enough problems in the past year (things have started to need replacement) that I've gotten a decent look at some of the things inside of the car. :p Don't worry, I do have a slight idea about the workings of my car because my dad has made sure I know. xD; (He participates in rallies and Autoslalom and does all his own car repairs! Except for the windshield, which he sent off to get fixed because he couldn't do it himself.) I don't know a lot but I'd like to learn more!!!

LOL. I did notice that! xD;

Haha I'm just afraid since I don't know a whole lot about cars, I will disappoint you all! :p But that's partly why I joined, is to read on this forum and ask questions! I will be as knowledgeable as all of you one day!

From my point of view, I like seeing young people getting involved with cars, male or female. Cars are such an important part of our life's these days, it pays huge dividends down the road when you understand what is going on under the hood and have an appreciation for the machine that gets you from point A to B. I see so many young people who can't even check their own oil let alone have enough interest in their vehicle to post on a forum such as this.
