If the coolant is old, could that be a reason to see the CEL on?

No. The CEL sensor has no idea how old your coolant is. I'm sure I'll stick my foot in thine mouth later, but if the car is running normally then it's probably an 02 sensor causing the CEL. Best advice was already said, take the car in and get the code read.

Damn, I called around just about every auto parts store around here and NO ONE is able do a CEL read... that means calling the dealership :S which means $$$$

It might just be a fluke. Mine came on recently and I panicked because I had just been reading about all of the CAT issues. It wentoff by itself after they guy at the auto part store told me it was the cats and the dealer then gave me prices. I was very close to buying an Ebay header and having custom exhaust built by a friend and then the light went away.
