I don't think he's gonna go for that.

It will be a N/A build. I won't have time to mess with the S/C before school starts in the fall. It was a really cool idea, but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen realistically. Not this time around, anyway.

My dad is planning on footing the bill. That's good news.
I figure I'll be footing the bill on my son's '03X when the head gasket goes or if the AVO Turbo kit takes out the engine. :icon_eek: So far, the '03X has been running perfectly.

It actually runs like a top. I mean, quiet and smooth. The Foz definitely has more get up and go (it has 153k miles), but I've always attributed that to it weighing 400lbs less. Maybe I was mistaken about that.

Gas mileage is good on the highway (26-29), but pretty sucky in town (20-21).

I've got a little time... will just cut the OCI's down to about 2500 miles or so until I can do it.
What's that old saying? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Most people would be happy with a vehicle that was running as good as your Outback is.

I totally agree there. I've had vehicles in much worse shape (like my '87 Ranger... lol).

On a more pleasant note, I received some go- err...'stop' fast goodies in the mail today. Maybe they will make the BattleWagon feel a little less under the weather.

Also got my flywheel turning tool for mom's Suburban. If the rain stops, I'll have the engine out next week. Just keeps getting pushed back by the weather. :evilatyou:

It sounds like your projects are lining up! :icon_eek:

My recent project for the '07 (seats) can be done indoors, so the I'm good. Still, the weather here has been very mild this winter (El Nino) & the lawn is starting to grow, so that means mowing already! :frown:

Just some pics I snapped while doing the brake job. Need to clean up my wheel wells and re-undercoat them this spring.

650lbs of goat feed in the back.

Looks like you still had some miles left on those pads.

For your undercoating project, I'd recommend 3M 08883 Underseal Rubberized Undercoating. It's very easy to use & it comes in a huge 20 oz spray can.

Yep, definitely had a few left on the front. I just got tired of the mediocre stopping power of the OEM pads combined with my smaller front rotors (10.7" instead of 11.4" on the Foz). The Axxis Ultimates are really pleasing me thus far. Dust isn't too bad yet, and they really haul down the car nicely... Enough that bedding them almost made me sick to my stomach.

That is the undercoating I was looking at! Planning on putting the car on stands, and powerwashing out the wells/underbody (which I do every spring... our cars get so muddy underneath from the gravel driveway), then painting coating the wells. I'll do a writeup when the time comes.

I'll have to keep that those pads in mind when I do my brakes.

That 3M undercoat is very easy to use. I've had a couple cans for 15 years & it still sprays & works perftectly! You'd want to make sure everything is dry, or it'll trap the moisture & you know what that'll do! :icon_eek:

I'll keep you updated on how they work out. The Axxis pads also cost nearly half what the Hawk HPS do.

Installed a Swagman bike rack today to replace my 're-appropriated' Thule trays. You can read my review here.

Zach,

When you wrapped your Borla replica UEL header, did you wet the wrap so it would wrap tighter? I'm going to use DEI exhaust wrap on the '03 X up & down pipes. They recommend wetting the wrap to get a tighter wrap. It sounds kinda of messy & of course if you wet it, it has to be allowed to dry before it can be silicone spray coated. :icon_eek:

I did not wet the wrap for the header itself, though I did cut a portion off the roll and wet it, and tried to stretch it more, but it didn't really help any. Didn't see any sense in wetting the wrap and locking the moisture in. I just wrapped it as tight as I could and used lots of ties. So far the DEI wrap seems to be holding up well!

Thanks for the info. I was thinking if I wet the wrap, it would hold up process waiting for it to dry so it cold be silicone spray coated. If it really doesn't help, I figure why wet it!

I have nearly all the parts ordered for the '03 X turbo remove & reinstall project, plus some other issues I want to correct. Now I can finally put those finishing touches on the AVO turbo upgrade. You know that saying, "If you want something done right, do it yourself!"

Took a trip up to Paris Landing State Park for a 4H All-Star event. My sister snapped a few pics along the way, and I took some once we got there.

The transplanted Pioneer DEH-6000UB from my truck provided the tunes...

We arrived, and I got a pic before the events began...

Started the next morning right... spotted this guy in the parking lot!

Then, took some more pics around the park before we left.

Then, tonight on the way home from church, we passed 150k miles!

Yep, it looks pretty decent for its age!

Once it gets its new heart this summer, it should be good as (or better than) new!

Dude, that's a sweet light bar. Will have to go through your journal later as I think that would be cool on my Forester and on my Outback. (Nice color choice on the OB BTW). ;)

^^ Thanks! It works pretty well for me! Easy to install or remove when I need to. The white has grown on me a lot since I first got it. It's hard to take pictures of sometimes though, since it tends to wash out in direct sunlight. Overcast days are my friend when it comes to taking pictures.
