Great detailing job & I enjoyed reading your journal!

Funny... I prefer the rubber shifter in my '03 over the leather one in my '07. :frown: My son wants to switch, so problem solved! :biggrin:Some new leathery goodness. Thanks, Silke. Shifting through the gates feels much more solid now.
Funny you should mention that. On my new to me '07, I pulled off the engine cover & I'm thinking, where the heck is the coil pack?Looks pretty decent.
It'd be nice if they had engine covers for the NA Subaru engines though... I've always found the coil pack ugly to look at.
No problem! It looks pretty good on the picture... maybe I should have charged more!:wink:Thanks Bobby. Now I can have Aux Input! As well as a spare for either the BattleWagon or the Foz!
Hey, where'd you get the header wrap? I had the dealership steam clean the '03 engine & they blasted off some of the heat wrap.Header wrap
Thanks for the link! Is that stuff fiberglass? I like the darker color. The one on the '03 down pipe is off white & it looks dirty to me. :frown::
I could have gotten it from my local auto parts place (same stuff), but saved $10 and got it on Ebay instead. I didn't mind the wait. Free shipping on mine too.
Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not the MOD king, just trying to get the '07 to where the '03 is :wink:Always a pleasure to help the MOD king!
35% tint isn't that dark. I have that on the back on the '03 & '07. I don't tint the front passenger or driver windows. Once the back is tinted, the front will look darker. IMO, it retains more of the "stock" look when the fronts are left at the factory tint. :smile:I know... it needs it BADLY. I actually saw a stock '00, birch white, like mine with tint the other day. Looked really nice.
I'll get 35% on the back 5 and something a little lighter on the front two. 35% is the TN maximum... still need to check on Kansas and Minnesota (since it's registered in MN). Won't be until spring though, need to save pennies, and buy a laptop. All of the mods waiting to go on were purchased before my computer died. I'm on my parents' now. lol
Just for the heck of it, check your battery voltage with the car running to see if it's too high. It should be 14V or less. I don't think it'll be an alternator problem, but it doesn't hurt to check it. :wink:The low beam bulbs blew.... which would explain why there are no low beams.
Headed out to get new bulbs, but we still don't know why they blew.If that doesn't work (or they blow again :chair
, we'll troubleshoot some more.
Your votage is perfect. Yes, Subaru likes to switch the ground side, not the battery (+12V) side like others do. :frown:That's really odd... the Outback is the same way. I wonder if it's a US built Subaru thing. Our '05 FXS is still on all original bulbs... everywhere... with almost 149k miles on it. Probably could use new headlight bulbs, but they still seem much brighter than our other cars. Only ones that have burned out (and I haven't replaced yet) are the license lamps.
I disabled the DRL's on the BattleWagon to save my new bulbs. H1's are hard to find locally, I finally got WalMart (of all places) to dig through some boxes and found a couple. Gonna order some online as spares.
13.2v @ idle, 13.5v @ 3,000RPM
New bulbs fixed it! I think it had something to do with the ground being the way the high-beams are switched. The line to the HB's is always hot. The switch just connects and disconnects the ground when you move the stalk to turn that bulb on or off. Didn't know that before. Live and learn, I guess.
I'll play with the Hella's some more next week. I've had my fill of electrical stuff for this week now.
