Hi: I would like to know if the the dam rubber located on the lower portion of the windshield, functions to block 100% of water from entering the car. Does the dam rubber serve to keep water away from the engine- mechanical compontents, or is it basically placed there for cosmetic purposes? The reason I ask this question is because i recently noticed that the dam rubber on my lower windshield, driver's side was sticking up. I took it to a glass replacement place and all they did was put some adhesive on it and taped it down. Portions of it still stick up thus I am afraid water is getting into the car from these opeinings. Please let me know if the dam rubber should have an airtight seal to the windshield, or do the loose areas pose no problem for my vehicle.
