With my 07 being a double duty car for a year, life was hectic. My wife and I were looking for a new car for a while and trying to narrow it down. She fell in love with the new Mazda speed3 and that was going to be her new ride. Weighing our options and planning for the future, our new to us 09 satin white pearl forester made more sense to us. It took some convincing but when she seen it on the showroom floor, she had to have it!

Stay tuned...
The night we brought her home:

Now:

Mods:

Interior-full weathertechs,
Tint: 10% rear windows and sunroof, 50% front windows.
Exterior- rally armor flaps(white lettering)

I ordered rokblokz mudflaps and should get them tomorrow. I also snagged a full set of weathertechs for under $100! Called the guy who did my tint on my foz and said he'd gladly hook me up with my new one. $160 for the whole car. I'll also add the sunroof and visor. Maybe another 30-40 but he'll hook it up! I just need to steal her car and drop it off! Lol

I have been in the hospital for the past week, long story short I was so antsy and cooped up I couldnt take it. I was discharged yesterday evening and I was itching to mod since all I did was cruise the web, tv and sleep for the past week.

I installed the rokblokz mudflaps as soon as I got home. Literally. Lol Then this morning I stopped by to get the SH tinted first thing this morning. 2 guys beat me there so I was #3 . I was there 9am-1! The guy is awesome and worth the wait. 50% front windows, 35% on top of factory tint so it's about 10%? and 5% on sunroof. All this, 7 windows and the sunroof for $170! Then I had them wash and wax it. Wife likes it and is happy, so am I. ;)

Ordered a set of SH window visors for cheap. I'll be slapping those on as soon as I get them. This may be it for a while since we have some stuff goin on, plus she said she's not a fan of other mods i showed her. I guess it saves me some money.

Yes, probably in the spring if I can control myself til then. She may get the grille for Christmas. You know, a "to me-from me." I showed her what they look like and she says she's not a fan. Well, I am and I'm the one who takes care of the cars. :)

When I first saw them done up (before we bought the SH) I new the new ones had potential. They look kinda boring stock. I'll eventually and hopefully lower it, grill and lip. Since it's hers, I still ask her opinion on most things. Since that's the baby hauler, she doesn't want a rough lowered ride or exhaust.

I'm not a big fan of chrome so the grille had to go for sure. The SHs should of come lowered with a grille and lip from the factory but not everyone agrees because everyone has different purposes for the fozzies. Don't get me wrong, I have seen some SHs setup for offroading and they look pretty sick.

Indeed. There should still be a sport option like previous years. Even though I'll piece it together over time, I enjoy doing it rather than just buying it. That's why I didn't want to buy someone else's modded car. I won't have that pride and enjoyment of building it with my own hands.

Swapped out the rear dealer plate frame for a ... Hello Kitty plate frame. It's black with small silver lettering on the bottom. It's not as bad as it sounds. It's actually very subtle but girly, exactly what she was after. It's hers so I let her have some fun.

After taking a long drive in the new car, I know where it needs to be addressed. The suspension! I'm picking up a new setup and pretty excited. I hope it works out as planned. I want lower than swifts but more than wrx/sti setups. Its a to:me/from:me christmas gift. Stay tuned!

So after I passed up an awesome deal on 09 wrx takeoffs from a local guy on here, I was kicking myself. The thing holding me back was the fact it's my wife's car and she doesn't want it slammed. That is the designated future "comfy baby hauler". I seen the post where a guy used legacy rce springs. Looked higher than wrx setups by a tiny bit.

I opted for full legacy takeoffs. Higher spring rates should firm it up and lower 1-1.5". Good with me. I just hope it doesn't sag as I hate going back and doing stuff over. (like my foz that still has it's paranoid fab spacers in my tailgate for a year) ;)

Suspension shipped today! Anyone know if gen5 legacy takeoffs sag? I've seen conflicting posts. I dont want to order 3/8 and find out I need bigger or what not. If there isn't an answer on this site yet, I'll give one when it's installed.

Suspension "should" be here today but there hasn't been any tracking updates in a few days. If it doesn't come today I'll be bummed as I intentionally took her car to work b/c it's 70* in Chicago in Dec. That's unheard of, but I'll take it. Hopefully it gets here and I can slap them on.

Keep us up to date, I'm eager to see how the Legacy takeoffs work out. IMHO the WRX/STI setups look too low. But then again, I love the Foz for the off road ability. Swifts would be pushing it for me, LOL.
